Airtel extends 30GB free data offer for another 3 months

Monsoon surprise awaits", Airtel tells its customers. The telecom company has decided to extend its previously announced "holiday surprise" offer for the next 3 billing cycles with the new Monsoon surprise offer.

The telecom operator on Saturday sent out emails to Airtel subscribers, mentioning that the company has a "monsoon surprise" for the users. The Airtel holiday surprise offer was initially introduced back in the month of April, and which was suppose to end on July (considering the offer validity was for 3 months). But, now with the coming of monsoon surprise, the offer will continue for the next 3 months.

Under this surprise offer, Airtel has been offering free 10GB 4G data every month to post-paid users. Airtel today sent out emails to select users. "Now as the monsoons approach, we are sending another shower of data your way. I am delighted to share that we are extending the data surprise by another 3 months. Now you get the extra data for 3 more billing cycles. All you need to do is claim your surprise on My Airtel app after 1st July, 2017," the email, which was sent from the office of Airtel CEO Gopal Vittal.

The offer is available only for the post-paid users. Some have already subscribed to the offer, while some haven't. In case, you have there's a very simple process to extend the offer for another 3 months. On July 1 just opt to extend the offer in My Airtel app. The same app can eb used by new users to subscribe to the offer.

All that is required for you to do is, claim the offer via the My Airtel app. However, just in case you don't have the app on your smartphone, go to Google Play store, download the My Airtel App, after which the application will show a message asking users to claim their surprise offer. Again, it should be noted that this offer is valid only for the post-paid users, and pre-paid users can't subscribe to it.

After installing the My Airtel app and clicking on the claim message that the app shows, you now need to tap on the message. Once you tap on the message notification, the application will take you to the page where you will be able to claim the surprise offer. After which you will automatically receive a message that each month you will get free 10GB of 4G data per month.

The surprise offer definitely comes with some conditions. India Today Tech had earlier reported, "For one, not all users are reportedly getting 30GB. Some are getting less. Also, some aren't getting the message telling them about free data not at all. In these cases there is a purported hack to nudge Airtel to give you the free data and that involves sending a message with text "surprise" to 121. Although, there is no guarantee it will work."

Bharti Airtel introduced this offer clearly to take on Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio. That being said, Jio has already ended its free services and the customers will now have to pay for the services. The telecom operator has introduced several tariff plans for both pre-paid and post-paid users.

Furthermore, Airtel is also all set to counter Jio's upcoming Fibre broadband service, which is reportedly called -- JioFiber. Airtel a few days ago introduced "larger bundles of data at existing prices" for both new and incumbent broadband subscribers. "The new plans offer up to 100 per cent more high speed data benefits within the same monthly rentals," Airtel announced in a press statement.
